Bach: Goldberg Variations. Engineer, Mastering, Photography. Franns von Promnitzau. Organ, Primary Artist. J. Bradford Robinson. Liner Note Translation. Production Supervisor.

Bach: The Goldberg Variations is the 1955 debut album of Canadian classical pianist Glenn Gould. An interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach's Goldberg Variations (BWV 988), the work launched Gould's career as a renowned international pianist, and became one of the most well-known piano recordings. Sales were "astonishing" for a classical album: it was reported to have sold 40,000 copies by 1960, and had sold more than 100,000 by the time of Gould's death in 1982.

The German organist, Franns von Promnitzau (full name: Franns Wilfried Promnitz von Promnitzau), born in Dresden, sang as a boy in Dresdner Kreuzchor and studied in his hometown of Dresden, conducting, piano and composition. At the same time received training in organ (Hans Otto), cello and singing. Inspired by classes with Professor Harald Vogel and through several years of concert experience at the oldest organs in the Netherlands, took place early on the turn to historical performance practice and the old ways of playing.
