11. –The American Poets. She Blew A Good Thing. Label Code: LC 05982. Rights Society: MCPS.

Ace's ongoing chronicle of American recordings licensed to the London American label in the . reaches 1964 with this 28-track, 2013 release. London American didn't have a deal with one specific . label, they cherry-picked from a number of different imprints, but things began to shift in 1964, and not just due to the international spread of Beatlemania. During that year, EMI and Pye ramped up their own American specialty labels, narrowing the scope of what London American could license; halfway through, Atlantic and Dot moved elsewhere.

At the moment, and thanks in no small way to the London American Label Year By Year series, Peter Gibbon and I feel as though we’re permanently stuck in the late 1950 and early 1960s, reliving our youth over and over again in a skewed cross between Groundhog Day and Life On Mars. Roll over Doctor Who, and tell Gene Hunt the news. The series continues to offer Ace fans their own personal time machine via some of the best American records of their era, all of which appeared on the cherished black-and-silver imprint. This month Ace’s equivalent of the TARDIS lands in 1959 – a pivotal year in popular music that managed to survive the US payola scandals, a UK printers strike, a failed experiment with stereo 45s (Sun and Specialty in stereo?

Various Artists - London American Label, Year by Year (1960, 2011). Various Artists - The Forgotten 45s 1960-1962 CD. Trending price. This pair of albums from the series The London American Story are two of the best – but that's only my opinion. On it there are many songs I remember very well, some I had forgotten and some that I honestly don't remember ever hearing before. Fifty tracks, many of which have been covered by many artists over the ensuing 50 years, which shows that the music was, and still is, great
